Ian Hanomansing is a familiar face to many Canadians, having been a prominent figure in the media industry for decades. As a seasoned journalist and current anchor of CBC’s The National, Hanomansing has become a trusted source of information for the nation. Born in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, Hanomansing immigrated to Canada with his family at the age of three. Growing up in Sackville, New Brunswick, he developed a love for journalism at a young age and pursued a degree in journalism at Ryerson University. His hard work and dedication paid off when he landed a job at CBC in 1986, starting off as a junior reporter and working his way up to become the national reporter for CBC News.
Throughout his esteemed career, Hanomansing has covered numerous major events, including the 2010 Winter Olympics and the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. He has also been recognized for his work, receiving multiple Gemini awards and a prestigious Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for his contributions to Canadian journalism.
